Heard this on Gid Coe on BBC 6 Music and Pacific Notions on KEXP. Stunning psychedelic ambient electronica folk minimal... hard to pin down, but worth it. Stunning.

CUE DOT SERIES - CUE DOT 008:
R.Seiliog is the alias of Snowdonia based musician / sound artist Robin Edwards. His music interweaves threads of ambient electronica, odd techno, drone and field recording into exploratory psychedelia - ‘Ash Dome’ being the Welsh producer’s first full length release since 2018’s ‘Megadoze’, following a series of soundtrack and sound installation works.
Ash Dome draws its title and compositional inspiration from a living sculpture by David Nash - The vortex-like structure of 22 ash trees hidden/protected at a secret location in Eryri was planted in 1977 and has grown quietly through times of social and environmental uncertainty. These trees stand to ask whether heavy-handed human curiosity is an inherent part of nature, or if we are drifting away from it.
Each piece was composed after returning from binaural field recording trips in Coed Camlyn, Maentwrog between March and May 2021.

This album caught my eye and ear as someone who grew up living in a new town in Hertfordshire and now lives in new city in Egypt. The album encapsulates a sense of the doomed promise of such ventures, and the way in which such synthetic managerial ways to constructing a culture through architecture always sow the seeds of their own failure. The music resonates this duality perfectly - the beauty of the utopian dreams that birthed such cities, but the grim experience of their realities. nujumi
Great album, love the dreamy nostalgic spacey-ness. The old educational samples transport me back to early school days in the TV room and when all we had to worry about was if we were wearing the right trainers or swapping Panini football stickers. vsep13
